About Us

San Diego Paella was created by Javier Martiarena. It was originally named "Paella Patodos." Javier is from the Basque region of Northern Spain (which is now considered a culinary hot bed) from San Sebastian. Although Paella hails from Southern Spain, Javier has aimed to master his Paellas with custom made equipment to ensure authenticity to those even more superior than those cooked in Spain. With slow cooking times, general direction and a team of chefs learning his traditional styles, San Diego Paella looks to be a premier catering group in Southern California.

Javier's son David is now continuing with San Diego Paella to ensure authenticity stays the same, and the direction of cooking remain in place, as Javier has known for over 20 years. David says, "In California we have so much Spanish influence from city and street names to architecture, yet we seem to lack a well known and appetizing Spanish dish. San Diego Paella would like to introduce catering Paella as something affordable, authentic and memorable for any event. Paella has its own magic of bringing people together and having a good time."

For a memorable experience, let San Diego Paella cater your next event.
